SPD searches for Juveniles who wrote graffiti on City Annex

A Safford police officer was dispatched to the City of Safford Annex building last week in reference to criminal damage allegedly caused by a group of juveniles.

Sometime between 2:00 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. on February 4, a group of juveniles were on the steps of the building and apparently vandalized the sandstone facade of the steps with permanent markers. The kids wrote four names on the front steps of the building. A city employee said that four juveniles – two boys and two girls were seen on the property.

A witness who was nearby when the incident occurred said that four juveniles had left about 10 minutes before the arrival of the officers and were walking south on 8th Avenue. After getting a description of the alleged graffiti artists, the officer canvassed the area, checking the surrounding schools, library and nearby businesses but was unsuccessful.

The officer then went to the City of Safford IT department and got copies of the surveillance video at the annex building. The video showed two males and two females on the steps at the time of the incident. The juveniles appeared to be standing over the step where the vandalism occurred.

Still images of the juveniles were printed from the security video and authorities are in the process of locating the four juveniles.
