THATCHER – Eastern Arizona College is once again partnering with the Graham County Cooperative Extension to offer a short-term class, Ecology of the Gila River (BIO 130, section #0526), for the Fall 2016 semester. The class will be held from Sep. 8 through Nov. 10, 2016, on Thursday evenings, from 6-9 p.m., in MS-203, on the Thatcher campus, with several field trips held on Saturdays.
“The upper Gila River is intriguing with its many natural resources, uses, and issues,” Bill Brandau, instructor for the course, said. “The class experience exposes students to this through a variety of instructors and field trips. Through this experience, students can gain a greater understanding and appreciation for our river, where our water comes from and how we use it. They learn about the local weather and climate, hydrology, geology, soils, water, wildlife and how they interact. Students get to see some interesting and beautiful country on the field trips.”
