Sheriff’s Office Releases Statement about Injury Accident

On November 24, 2018 at approximately 10:25 PM Graham County Communications received a call of a vehicle accident in the area of 6500 W Safford-Bryce Road. When first responders arrived they found two vehicles had collided in the roadway.

One vehicle was occupied by four juveniles, ranging in age from 15 to 17 years old. All four were severely injured and all were reportedly not wearing seatbelts. Three were initially taken to Mount Graham Regional Medical Center for treatment. One female was flown from the scene to Banner University Medical Center in Tucson by medical helicopter. All were in critical/serious condition at the time. The second vehicle was occupied by the driver, who had no reported major injuries. The driver was reportedly wearing a seatbelt.

The vehicle with the four juveniles was traveling east on Safford-Bryce Road. The other vehicle was traveling west. Based on the investigation, the east bound vehicle went into the west bound lane where the collision occurred.

The Department of Public Safety assisted in the investigation and will diagram the accident. Members of the Graham County Sheriff’s Office, Pima Police, Safford Police, Lifeline Ambulance, Air Vac Medical Helicopter and Fire personnel responded to assist.
