Safford High hosts 39th Annual Rotary Invitational Track Meet Friday

Sixteen of Arizona’s top track and field teams will converge on Safford High School on Saturday April 13th for the 39th Annual Rotary Track Meet. All of the Gila Valley teams will be competing.

The first event starts at 1pm and organizers believe the meet will run until about 7pm. Admission is just $5 for adults and all proceeds go to the Safford Rotary Club who use the funds to award scholarships to local students. Refreshments will be available.

According to MaxPreps, the Safford boys squad have won 5 meets this year and finished 2nd once. The girls team have grabbed four top 3 finishes this year. Both teams are under the tutelage of legendary Safford track coach, BB Andrews.

Adam Estrada’s Thatcher boys team has tallied five top 3 finishes this season. The girls have dominated this season and have won every single track meet they’ve entered.

The Morenci Wildcats boys squad has been in the top 5 all season and their girls squad picked up their best finish of the season in their last meet, 4th at Benson.

The Pima girls teams as been on the verge of winning nearly all of their meets, placing in the top 3 in all but one, including a win at Valley Christian. The boys team has been just out of the top 3 all season.
