Safford Girls, Thatcher Boys soccer kick their way into state tournament

The Safford Girls soccer team had to take the long road into the 3A soccer tournament by hosting a play-in game February 7th. The 11th ranked Lady Bulldogs knocked off #22 Valley Christian 4-2.

They will now travel to #6 Fountain Hills for a 6pm start tonight. Fountain Hills is 10-2 on the season. It will be the first meeting between the two teams this year. Safford enters the game 11-1-1 on the year.

The Thatcher boys finished the regular season as the #8 overall seed and got the play in round off. They will host Sahuarita on February 12th at 3pm. Thatcher has a record of 10-2 coming into the game and have won 7 straight.

The Mustangs are the #9 seed and beat #24 Trivium Prep 4-0 in the play in round. This is the first meeting between these two teams this year.
