Ruby Kay Daniels

RubyKay Daniels, a longtime resident of Mesa, Arizona, entered into eternal peace Thursday evening, July 12, 2018 in Mesa, Arizona following a battle with pneumonia. She was 82.

Kay was born in Pampa, Texas on March 7, 1936, to Ruby Rock and Leo Richmond Rock. The family, including her sisters, Wanda and Dolly, moved to Duncan in 1940. All three girls attended Duncan High School.

Kay worked most of her life in various human resources positions including Lockheed (Air Research), Salt River Project, America West Airlines, and as a Legal Administrative Assistant with the State of Arizona.  She was a very hard worker and respected by her co-workers and management.

Following her retirement, Kay continued to enjoy organizing and serving on the Board of Directors for her “Who’s Who” singles club and loved participating in humanitarian and community service projects. Staying connected with her Duncan High School friends was a top priority.  She hosted several class reunion gatherings at her home, sent regular emails, and actively participated with her “Duncan Dollies” girlfriends of over 70 years.  Military families and domestic violence projects held a special place in her heart. She also enjoyed helping her daughter, Karen; they made lots of angel dolls for cancer patients, military personnel, and children’s hospitals and they enjoyed special friendships with their “Bunco Babes”.

Kay thoroughly enjoyed people and will always be remembered for how much she loved serving others, her sense of humor, friendly demeanor, generosity, and forherlove of the Lord, herfamily, and herfriends.

Left to keep her memory alive are: her daughters, Karen Daniels-Malta, Janice Daniels, and only grandchild, Alexandria Michele Daniels, all of Mesa, AZ; her nieces, Shauna Phegley-Davis of Tucson, Connie Brooks of Texas; her nephews Gordon Phegley and Donald Brooks; Kay was welcomed into Heaven by: her sisters, parents and grandparents with whom we are sure she is having a glorious reunion.

A Celebration of Kay’s Life will be conducted Tuesday, July 17, 2018, at 5:00 p.m., at Legacy Assisted Living, 5625 E McKellips, Mesa, AZ 85215, facilitated by her dear Duncan friend, Martin Tellez.

A graveside service will be conducted at the Duncan Cemetery on Saturday morning, July 21, 2018, at 11:00 a.m., by another dear Duncan friend, Ronald Jacobson. A celebration will be held immediately following at the El Charro restaurant in Safford.

The family donations in Kay’s honor may be made to the American Cancer Society, St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or the Sojourner Center for Domestic Violence.

The family would like to thank everyone who has shown their love and friendship to Kay.
