Nelda Jo Shiflet Howard, 84, passed away peacefully August 29, 2015 at her home.
Nelda was born July 30, 1931 in Central, Arizona, to Joseph and Edith (Coombs) Shiflet. She attended Thatcher High School, graduating with the class of ’49. She married her high school sweetheart, Verdell Howard, in the Mesa Arizona Temple after graduation.
She was a lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, serving in many capacities. Nelda was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
She enjoyed sewing (especially for her three little girls), quilting, crocheting, working in her yard, flower arranging, and she was a very good cook.
Nelda is survived by her three daughters, Diane (Jay) Layton, Marla (James) Wright, and Pam Curtis, as well as 15 grandchildren and 36 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Verdell, and her parents.
Private family services were held Thursday, September 3, 2015.
