Mitzi Mattice

Mitzi Mattice, 46, of Phoenix, formally of Pima, passed away on Wednesday March 23, 2016. She was born June 11, 1969, in the old Safford Inn Hospital to Richard Webb Mattice and Valerie Lee Smith. Mitzi was the oldest of 6 children, Gary Webb, Jennifer, Brant Christopher, Margo, and Bryce Jonathan.

Mitzi grew up in Pima with all the freedom and fun that a small town offers. She was a vibrant little girl and loved to have fun.  Mitzi graduated from Pima Schools and had many friends growing up. However, in high school, you couldn’t think of Mitzi without thinking about her friend Shari Lunt. Since her passing, the family continues to hear many funny and mischievous adventures that the two had.

As a freshman in high school Mitzi developed a thyroid disorder which was just the beginning of many, many health issues over the course of her life.

Mitzi moved to Phoenix at the age of 18 to attend Grand Canyon University, earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Science. There she lived with her cousin and eventually her caregiver, Valerie Miller. Mitzi was loved by many and will be missed by all.

Mitzi was preceded in death by her grandparents George and Iris Mattice and Christopher and Ethel Smith and her younger brother Gary.

A viewing for Mitzi will be held on Thursday, March 31, 2016 from 6-8 p.m. at McDougal’s Caldwell Funeral Chapel and from 9-11 a.m. on Friday at the Pima LDS Chapel on Hwy 70.
