Michele Sue Waite

Michele Sue Waite, 73, of Safford, lost her courageous battle with cancer on Sunday, October 16, 2016 at her home with her family at her side. She was born October 28, 1942 in Safford to Rodney Kimball Phillips & Janice Smith Phillips.

Michele lived in the Gila Valley all of her life, graduating from Safford High School and raising her four children here. She was a receptionist & clerk for Walmart where she received the “Best Worker” award. She was a member of the Red Hat Society and loved to spend time with her friends. She loved doing yard work, sewing, crafts, genealogy, going to the Temple and spending time with her grandchildren & great-grandchildren. Michele was a two-time cancer survivor who fought hard and never slowed down. She was a very hardworking woman and continued working until June of this year.

She is survived by her children; Laurie Virginia Saline, Jeannie Simpson, Robert Steven Waite and Kathleen Waite, 14 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren whom she loved dearly.

Michele was preceded in death by her parents Rodney & Janice Phillips and siblings; Kay O’Dell and David Phillips.

A Memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 5, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Church Street Chapel in Thatcher with inurnment in the Thatcher Cemetery at 11:00 a.m.
