Michael Gary Green Obituary

Michael Gary Green, 78, of Safford, passed away peacefully in his home on August 15, 2015, after a long battle with cancer, surrounded by his loving wife and four daughters.

Michael, or “Mike” as he was known, was born July 27, 1937, in Kingman, AZ, to Donald James Green and Fredabelle Brindley Green. He graduated from Safford High School with the class of ’56, excelling in sports, academics and leadership. Following High School Mike attended the Chicago Art Institute.

On August 16, 1958, he married the love of his life, Judith Ann Gleissner. They were happily married for 57 years. Together they have four beautiful daughters; Cynthia (Rodney) Gilliam, Beth (Eddie) Lujan, Michele (Patrick) Curley, and Julie (Jerry) Iwankiw.

Mike is survived by his by his wife, Judy, four daughters, ten grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren, and his sister, Donnabelle Kempton.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and two grandsons, Joshua James Olsen and Nicholas James Curley.

His beautiful kind hearted soul will be dearly missed by all who knew him and loved him.

A memorial service for Mike will be Saturday, August 22, 2015, at 1 p.m. at the New Testament Baptist Church located at 2051 S. 1st Ave in Safford followed by a Celebration of Life gathering with family and friends at the VFW American Legion Post 95 located at 535 S. 11th Ave in Safford.
