Judith Ann Nelson

Judith Ann Nelson was born to Lafe and Sadie Nelson on July 2, 1936, in Tucson, Arizona. She went to elementary school, middle school and high school in Safford, AZ, where both of her parents were educators, her dad being the school superintendent, even having a school named in his honor.

She grew up as the youngest of four children: Jay Nelson, Flora Nelson Merrell and Lee Nelson. Judy played the piano from a very young age, and was active in school activities as a cheerleader and in music, playing clarinet in the band, and violin in the orchestra.

Following high school, she attended Eastern Arizona College where she met and married Darvin Rogers. They had three children together: twin boys, Davey and Danny, and one daughter, Darla. They resided in Eloy, AZ, where her greatest joy was raising her children and playing the organ/piano at church. During these years, she worked as a legal secretary and earned her Associate’s degree at Central Arizona College. Judy later resided in Phoenix, AZ, where she continued her passion, working in legal practices. She later moved to OK, to be close to her daughter and family where she resided up until her passing. While in Oklahoma, she has been a member of Highland Park Baptist Church in Edmond, where she was loved by her church family.

Judy is preceded in death by: her mother and father; brother, Jay Nelson; and sister, Flora Fay Merrell.
