Hispanic Heritage 5th Annual Un Gran Exito Fiesta

The Eastern Arizona Hispanic Heritage Corporation will present the 5th annual Un Gran Exito Fiesta this Saturday, November 16, 2019 at the Graham County Fairgrounds Agriculture Building from 1:30 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. The fiesta will feature vendors, food, games for kids, live entertainment and mariachis throughout the evening.

General admission for the event is $25.00, which includes a show with no dinner. Each table has 8 seats at $55.00 each or $440 for a complete table.

In addition to entertainment, the event will honor Herman “BB” Andrews as the 2019 Hispanic Teacher of the Year. This will be the first year this award is given. BB was born and raised in the Safford and attended Safford schools. While in high school he was All State in 3 sports: Football, basketball and baseball. BB attended EAC for 2 years and finished baseball as an All American, which helped him get a scholarship to Grand Canyon University. He played two years for GCU. After graduating, BB returned to Safford and eventually landed his dream job. He’s been a teacher and coach for 46 years.

The 2019 Family of the Year will be awarded to the Valenzuela family. The Valenzuela’s are a family of music and school educators. Dr. Alfredo Valenzuela started the music program at Davis Bilingual Elementary School in the early 1980s. Dr. Valenzuela’s children have also become music educators beginning a family legacy.

Scott Bennett, Chief Deputy at the Graham County Attorney’s Office will be the guest speaker at the event.
