SAFFORD – On Friday, Nov. 17, the David M. Player Center For the Arts will have its doors blown open by the guitar-heavy rock sound of Heart By Heart.

The group features original members of Heart and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees, bassist Steve Fossen and drummer Michael Derosier, as well as vocalist Somar Macek, Lizzy Daymont on guitar and keyboards and legendary Seattle guitarist Randy Hansen.

Fossen spoke with Gila Valley Central and made no bones about how they go about putting on a show.

“We play the hits of Heart,” Fossen said. “We try to play as many hits as we can in the time allotted. We stick to the original arrangements – the original keys – and we try to play it as if you were attending a concert back in the 70s.”

That means the place will be rockin’ with plenty of guitar-heavy hits, such as Barracuda, Crazy On You, Straight On, Magic Man and more.

Fossen is a founding member of the group that eventually became Heart and has played professionally since the 1960s.

“When you’re a young person and you just start off on your instrument, you just feel lucky to be able to make $5 when you play the sock hop at the high school,” Fossen said. “Life is a journey, and you just never know where it’s going to take you.  I’m thrilled to be playing still in 2017. Your skills don’t really diminish, and my thrill for playing has not diminished at all. I have so much fun when I play that I can’t take the smile off my face.”

Reserved pricing tickets are $15 and $25 and can be purchased online through the CFA here.

“We’re just really happy to bring the hits of Heart back around as they were recorded back in the 70s,” Fossen said. “We love playing music and everybody in the band is enthusiastic about playing every night. So, yeah, we’re going to have a great time.”
