THATCHER — Eastern Arizona College’s Business Division will once again offer a Project Management Fundamentals certificate this fall and the coursework has been scheduled so that students can complete the program in just one semester.

“The Project Management Fundamentals certificate is designed to prepare students to plan, schedule, supervise, and complete various projects within the business field,” EAC business instructor, Dana Barnett, said.

This 15-credit certificate includes course work in business math, accounting, word processing, basics of project management, scheduling and cost estimation.

To complete the certificate in one semester, students will need to enroll in BUA150 #0520, Introduction to Project Management, for the first eight weeks of the semester and BUA151 #6053, Scheduling and Cost Estimating, during the second eight weeks of the semester. The other nine credits of course work are offered during the full 16-week semester.

“Completing all 15 credits in one semester can be tedious and time consuming but for those that are able to handle the course work the option is there,” Barnett said. “If completing 15 credits in one semester does not work with a student’s schedule, they can always complete the courses in two or three semesters.”

“My colleagues in the Business Division and I would like to congratulate Lisa Williams and Juan Alegria for being the first to earn the Fundamentals of Project Management certificate offered at EAC,” Barnett said . “The certificate course work started last fall semester and Lisa and Juan dove right in.”

Williams said that the course work and certificate has helped her with the responsibilities she has at work. Alegria, already employed as a project manager, said he appreciated the flexibility of the courses being offered online or with adjustable scheduling.
