THATCHER — Eastern Arizona College’s Art Department invites the public to attend the opening of its combined Sophomore Portfolio Show, featuring the work of talented EAC art and graphic design students.

The semi-formal opening of the show is scheduled for Friday, April 14, from 6-8 p.m. It is open to the public and will include light refreshments along with musical entertainment served in the lobby of the college’s Activities Center.

“Each year the Art Department hosts a show comprised of pieces done by our graduating art majors,” said EAC art instructor and Art Department chair, Kenny Rhodes. “These pieces represent the best examples of work the students have completed while enrolled in the program at EAC. The work is in a variety of media including etching, drawing and oil painting.”

“Combining the art and graphic design show makes sense,” said EAC graphic design instructor, Jeff Henley. “Kenny and I have many of the same students in our classes and combining our two shows into one will better showcase what the EAC Art Department has to offer.”

This year, the featured artists and graphic designers are Jordyn Applegate, Taylor Benavides, Tyler Christensen, Devin Houck, McKay Keith, Alexis Lutz, Samuel Martin, Jonathan Nidiffer, Benjamin Reyes, Travis Rickman, Monique Saldana, Rebecca Taylor and Monique Ungerman.

The show will take place during regular hours of the Activities Center from April 14 through Monday, May 1.
