EAC’s Administrative Information Services degree changes name to Administrative Professional degree THATCHER, AZ—Eastern Arizona College’s Administrative Information Services degree has changed its name to Administrative Professionals degree. In 2004 the name was changed from Office Technology to Administrative Information Services.
“Change is good,” says EAC’s AIS and business instructor, Dana Barnett, “Twelve years later, the program is again adapting its name to reflect the current role of the administrative professional in business. It was important to modify the degree name in order to clarify the degree for potential students and employers.”
The Administrative Professional Associate of Applied Science Degree is offered solely online, making it convenient for working professionals to return to college and get the necessary course work to improve their skills. This allows students who are not ready to earn the 64 credit-hour degree right away to begin the process by completing one of the certificates of proficiency programs such as the Business Technology Specialist Certificate.
The Business Technology Specialist Certificate is an 18 credit-hour program that will provide the skills necessary for applicable electronic communication in an office. Students can continue with the Business Office Assistant Certificate of Proficiency by adding 10 more credit hours to their already completed course work. “After completing this certificate you will have the skills and knowledge that is expected in the business setting. But don’t stop there! Keep on working towards that ultimate goal, your Administrative Professional Associate of Applied Science Degree,” encourages Barnett.
