EAC to present ‘A Christmas Carol’

By Steven Higginbotham

THATCHER — With Christmas just around the corner, many of us might need a reminder to keep up the holiday spirit, surround ourselves with people who love us and be careful to treat others with kindness and respect.

Charles Dickens’ famous novel “A Christmas Carol” brings these messages to heart.

Eastern Arizona College’s Repertory Acting Company is proud to produce its own adaptation of “A Christmas Carol” for local audiences. Composed and scripted by the members of this company, the audience will follow Ebeneezer Scrooge on his supernatural journey through his past, present and future.

The play will be performed in the Theater in South Campus Classroom #3 from Nov. 30-Dec. 2 at 7:30 p.m., and Dec. 3 at 2 and 7:30 p.m. Tickets will cost $3 per person, and advanced reservations can be made by calling the EAC Ticket Office at (928) 428-8228.

“Upon creating this production, the company learned how to work together and to accept everyone’s ideas, which created a positive place to work,” said Alana Figueroa, a member of the ensemble. “Everyone was assigned a different job in the production, therefore giving everyone a chance to gain new experiences in different parts of the play.”

The members of the Repertory Acting Company assumed all of the roles in mounting this show, from performance to technical production.  In addition to being the performers, they have designed the set, worked on the lighting arrangements, created new costumes for the characters and coordinated all of the music and sound effects used within the show.

This adaptation of the Dickens classic was produced by all of the members of this ensemble, including Cecilia Abarca, Alex Aldana, Bailey Bickmore, Darcy Cochran, Lizzy Dannenbrink, Sarah DeHaven, Alana Figueroa, Cody Foree, Daken Hawkins, Tyson Lund, Andrew Peterson, Dillin Smith, Amanda Striffolino and Devon Tyrrell.

Come support local theatre and celebrate the holiday season with this exciting production.
