EAC Men and Women basketball falls in title games

The Eastern Arizona College Men’s Basketball team traveled to Salt Lake City to take on the Bruins over the weekend. EAC played toe to toe with #5 Salt Lake City in the first half of Saturday’s West District Championship game and trailed 52-49 at halftime. The Bruins started the second half on an 18-4 run and never looked back.

Eastern cut the lead to 11 with 8 minutes to play but that was the closest they could get the rest of the game. The Bruins took the District Championship 101-73. It was the 15th straight win for SLCC.

Eastern finishes the season with a 26-7 record and were the Region 1 Champions for the first time since 2007-2008.

The EAC Women’s basketball team led for three quarters against #7 Central Arizona in Friday night’s Region 1 Championship game in Coolidge before running out of time in the 4th and falling 59-48.

EAC held the Vaqueras to a season low in scoring but went cold themselves in the 4th quarter.

Eastern head coach Cam Turner posted this statement on the team’s social media account after the game:

Our season came to the end last night. Led for three quarters. Very proud of this team. High character hard working kids that care for each other. Loved coaching this group.

The Lady Monsters finish the season 21-11.
