David Eugene Tracy passed away on Thursday April 20th, 2017 in Morenci, AZ at the age of 68.
David was born August 28th, 1948 in Montfort, Wisconsin to Frank and Mamie Tracy. His family moved to Clifton in the late 1950’s. He attended Clifton Public Schools.
David was a man of many talents. Learning the skill from his father, he became a very proficient mechanic and body man; operating his own business, Dave’s Body Shop, in Clifton for over 20 years. He worked for Greenlee County as a dispatcher, jailer, tow truck driver and EMT for many years, but he prided himself with the knowledge and programming of computers, software and networks. In 2003, Dave was privileged to begin working with the wonderful people of Greenlee County as one of their IT specialists.
David is survived by his wife of 47 years, Bonnie Marie; daughters Jacquelyn (Chad) Dale of Abilene, TX; Alysia (Daniel) Sherwood of Mesa, AZ; sisters Sandy Troutman of Gilbert, AZ and Linda (David) Hayes of Pearland, TX; brother Gerald (Tina) Tracy of White Mountain Lakes, AZ; grandchildren Melissa and Matthew Gurtler of Gilbert, AZ; Caleb (Alisha) Dale of Glendale, Joshua and Hannah Dale of Abilene, TX; and Azaliah and Alaina Sherwood of Mesa, AZ; numerous nephews and nieces, cousins, several wonderful friends and co-workers and some very happy computer systems within the Greenlee County network.
David was preceded in death by his father, Frank Tracy; mother, Mamie Tracy; daughter, Julie Gurtler; brothers Larry, Dean, and Gary Tracy; and grandchildren Steven and Andrew Gurtler.
A viewing will be held on Thursday, April 27th at McDougall’s Caldwell Funeral Chapel from 6-8 p.m. Services will be held on Friday, April 28th at 10:00 a.m. at the Potters House Christian Fellowship; 402 Main St. in Safford; with open viewing one hour prior. Interment to follow at the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Morenci.
