Carla Jo Lovett-Stockton

Carla Jo Lovett-Stockton, age 67 and a resident of Duncan, peacefully entered into rest Wednesday afternoon, March 20, 2019, at the Banner University Medical Center, with her loving family at her bedside.

Carla, lovingly known as “Grammie Carla”, was born on June 13 1951, in Kirksville Missouri, the first of twin daughters, to Dr. Joseph J. and Myllie Lovett. At the age of two the family moved back to Duncan Arizona where Carla lived most of her life. In High school, Carla met Michael Sexton and they married shortly after graduation. Mike and Carla became proud parents of three children; Lance, Brandy and Burgandy.

Carla worked for Duncan Schools then later began working for her father at the doctor’s office as a receptionist and referral agent. She was passionate about her career and loved the many patient’s that she helped take care of.

Carla later moved from the Duncan area and began working in construction. This is when she met Harlan Stockton in 1999 and they married in 2005. Carla and Harlan lived in Tonto Basin for many years and moved back to Duncan to be home and closer to family in 2017.

Carla was always known for her strong will and witty sense of humor. She had a love for the outdoors; her yard and garden were her passion. She was also a great cook and loved canning for the entire family. Carla did not know a stranger and could remember everyone’s name that she ever meet. She could always tell you something special about everyone, without fail. Carla adored her two bratty Chihuahuas, Shadow and Rudy.

Carla leaves behind: her husband of 14 years, Harlan Stockton; her children: Lance Sexton, Brandy Stacy (Shaun) and Burgandy Sexton (Joseph); her step children, Charlie Koontz and Chet (Barbara) Stockton; grandchildren, KC (Dally), Jadyn, Zayne, Chance, Chase, Chelsea (Chance), Kade, Keeley, Kierra, Karsen, Randy, Ronnie and Casandra; her siblings, Connie (Dennis) Tomerlin, Tom (Janice) Lovett, Teri (Michael) Lovett-Johnson, Scott (Cheryl) Lovett; many great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends. Carla was preceded in death by: her father, Dr. Joseph J. Lovett; her mother, Myllie Lovett; and a step-daughter, Lori Koontz.

Carla was a unique individual that will be missed greatly. Her family finds comfort knowing that she is dancing, singing and swimming in Heaven.

A private family Celebration of Carla’s Life will be conducted at a later date.
