Boomtown Wins 2018 Battle of the Bands

Pyrosteria entertains a huge crowd to end the night.

A capacity crowd braved a brief rain storm Saturday to see Safford band Boomtown win the 2018 Battle of the Bands.

Double R Communications owner and event organizer Reed Richins is certain it is the biggest crowd in the 16 years of the event at the Graham County Fairgrounds.

14 bands entered and the top 3 came away with a trophy and prizes.

1st Place – Boomtown (Trophy and $1500 in cash)

2nd Place – Lucky J’s (Trophy and $500 gift certificate from Richard’s Music Company)

3rd Place – Lab Audio(Trophy and $300 gift certificate from Richard’s Music Company)

The three judges awarded individual awards as well. They all received a trophy designed and provided by Trophies N’ Tees in Safford.

Special Band Recognition – Celestial Exile

Best Vocalist- Pete McCormick(2018 Gila Idol Winner)

Best Bass Player – Jesse Ray

Best Drummer – Jay Brimhall

Best Guitarist – Jim Akers

Best Specialty Instrument – Jeremy Scott

The show was capped off by a nearly 2 hour performance by Pyrosteria – A Tribute to Def Leppard.
