Mr. Andres “Andy” D. Tellez was born August 3, 1942 in Morenci, AZ to the late Jesus A. & Maria Duran Tellez. He passed into eternal life on Monday, July 30, 2018 in Tucson, AZ at Tucson Medical Center.
Andy graduated Morenci High School in 1962 directly enlisting into the United States Army, honorably serving 3 years. He married the loving mother of his children the late Lucy Salcido. They welcomed their daughter Stephanie Kristine in 1972. He also began his much enjoyed and fulfilling career at the United Parcel Service, he became the first employee for the Safford Distribution area. With the expansion of the UPS Route and his success at UPS he relocated his family to Safford and that is where they then welcomed the birth of his son Steven Andres in 1976. He very proudly retired after 26 years.
In 1995, Andy married Mary Helen with whom he spent 23 years living a full and wonderful life, which included the welcome addition of her 3 daughters, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. They delighted in traveling together, trips to the Casino, tending to the yard, and just being in one another’s company. His family gladly grew again when Son Steven married Jessica Catlett in 2000. They blessed him with his two grandchildren Cayden Lucia and Andrew Ryan, whom he deeply cherished to help raise and spending time with.
Andy was a great man with a very devote faith in God, he will be lovingly survived by his family, and sadly missed by all.
A viewing will take place on Tuesday, August 7, 2018 at 9:00 a.m. followed by the recitation of the Rosary at 10:00 with the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. at the St. Rose of Lima Church. Interment will be in the Safford Cemetery following Mass.
